Former West Virginia basketball guard Sean McNeil has announced his transfer to the Ohio State Buckeyes for the 2022-23 college basketball season, via his Twitter account. McNeil spent the last three seasons at West Virginia, averaging 10.1 points per game. He chose the Buckeyes over Virginia, Louisville, Cincinnati, Indiana and Texas Tech.

Prior to his career with the Mountaineers, McNeil was a 247Sports Composite three-star junior college recruit out of Union, Kentucky. He was also the N0. 24-ranked junior college recruit and No. 11-ranked shooting guard in the Class of 2019.

McNeil enrolled at Sinclair Community College, and led NJCAA Division II in scoring by averaging 29.7 points per game, making a national-best 4.3 3-pointers per game. That led to first-team All-America honors and a spot at West Virginia.
