Norwayne Local Schools and the Creston community are mourning the loss of a longtime educator and Hall of Fame coach.  Terry O’Hare passed away Monday at the age of 79.  O’Hare joined the district in 1971, and although retired from teaching since 1995, he continued coaching right up until the time of his death.  He was in the midst of his 26th year as Norwayne High School’s cross country coach and had been the girl’s track and field coach for the past 48 years, winning 22 Wayne County Athletic League titles during that time.  He also spent 19 seasons coaching the boys’ basketball team in the 1970s and 80s, where he won four conference championships and three district titles.  During his youth, O’Hare was a state champion hurdler, ran track and played basketball for the University of Akron and even qualified for the 1968 Olympic Trials in the decathlon.  For those wishing to pay their respects, calling hours will be Sunday afternoon, from 1-6pm, inside the Norwayne High School gym.
