Cavaliers All-Star guard Darius Garland has agreed to a five-year, $193 million maximum rookie contract extension that could be worth as much as $231 million. Garland’s deal is the richest in Cavaliers history and comes after a breakout third season that saw him average 21.7 points and 8.6 assists per game  He was also named an All-Star for the first time and elevated the franchise into the Eastern Conference play-in tournament. The No. 5 pick in the 2019 NBA draft, Garland helped the Cavaliers finish over .500 for the first time since LeBron James left in 2018. Garland needs to be voted onto one of the three All-NBA teams next season to earn the $231 million supermax escalator.
