The Cleveland Guardians fell to the Boston Red Sox on the road on Monday night by a final score of 3-1. The loss for Cleveland marks their third straight, but Boston snaps a five-game losing streak with the win.

For Cleveland (48-47), the only run came due to an RBI single by All-Star third baseman Jose Ramirez in the 5th inning. Starting pitcher Zach Plesac took his eighth loss of the season for going 5.0 innings and allowing three hits and three earned runs, while walking three batters and striking out four batters.

For Boston (49-48), third baseman Yolmer Sanchez hit an RBI single in the 3rd inning for the first run of the game. Later in the 6th inning, outfielder Alex Verdugo hit an RBI double and catcher Christian Vazquez hit an RBI single to take a 3-1 lead and eventual win. Starting pitcher Nick Pivetta went 5.2 innings and allowed seven hits and one earned run, while allowing three walks and striking out six batters. Relief pitcher John Schreiber got his third win of the year for going 1.1 innings and allowing one hit and striking out two batters.

The Guardians will be back on the road to take on the Boston Red Sox again on Tuesday, July 26th, with first pitch set for 7:10 p.m.
