Congressman Anthony Gonzalez announced yesterday that he will not seek reelection next year. Gonzalez represents Ohio’s 16th congressional district, which includes all of Wayne County. In an interview with the New York Times, he attributed his decision, along with wanting to have more time for his family, to a toxic environment within his own party and indicated he did not want to be part of a GOP that continues to put former President Trump front and center. Gonzalez was one of ten House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump following the insurrection at the U.S. Capital on January 6th.
