County officials are working on narrowing down the list of prospective contractors for the upcoming expansion project at the Wayne County Justice Center.  The two-phase, $32 million project will see the construction of a new building this year, along with the renovation of the current jail in 2024.  The new building, which will be constructed on top of the current jail’s parking lot, will increase the inmate bed count to 241, while also updating the jail’s mental health and medical cells.  To make up for the lost parking space, another parking lot will be constructed along Larwill Street.
