Assistant Fire Chief Ryan Sprunger of the East Wayne Fire District was honored at the White House. Sprunger was recognized for his heroic actions in saving a man and his grandsons who had fallen through a frozen pond 2 1/2 years ago. President Joe Biden awarded Sprunger and 14 other public safety officers with a Medal of Valor during a ceremony in the East Room of the White House on Monday.
