Several issues were brought up during Loudonville’s City Council meeting this week, including several recent rescues on rivers in the area. Council is concerned about the cost of the rescues, but after discussion council said there hands were tied on the issue, as only the Governor could shut down the river, and that council can’t stop someone from going onto the rivers. Council also heard from Fire Chief Mike Carey, who told council that the fire department received $35,000 in grant money that will towards equipment and a breathing machine, however local funds totaling $18,000 will be needed to complete those purchases.
