Thankfully no one was injured after a train struck a car Thursday night on West Smith Road in Medina. Medina police says that the incident happened at around 8:00 PM at the railroad crossing near the Smith Road / South Elmwood Street intersection. The driver of car says he pulled out from a restaurant that is located by the railroad tracks, when he apparently had the gates close on him and was stuck in between. The driver was then struck by the train, but he says that it was moving very slowly. A Medina Police officer who reported to the scene says that the car received significant damage and that the driver was considered to be at fault.
