The Northwestern Local School District has placed Superintendent Jeffrey Layton on paid administrative leave, effective immediately. The decision came after school board members recently learned of allegations concerning Layton’s conduct. The district is not releasing any further information about the nature of the allegations against Layton, but it has announced that Julie McCumber, Northwestern’s director of curriculum and personnel, will serve as acting superintendent during his absence.
