The Ohio EPA is investigating a rendering plant in Holmes County after receiving nearly 500 complaints about the plant’s foul odor. Holmes By Products, one of three rendering plants in the state, and the only one that processes farm animals, is located on Township Road 411, between Berlin and Winesburg. EPA officials are currently conducting what is called odor surveillance. No word yet on how long the agency plans to continue monitoring the situation.
