Orrville-based SmithFoods has sold two of its out-of-state processing facilities. The facilities, located in Indiana and Missouri, were sold this week to Dairy Farmers of America, a farmer-owned dairy cooperative headquartered in Kansas City. According to a SmithFoods official, the price tag of the sale will not be disclosed. SmithFoods also says the sale will not effect its operations in Orrville, and it does not anticipate any jobs being lost locally because of the transaction.
