The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has unveiled a new program that will help keep up with the welfare of the elderly and those with disabilities. The program was launched this week, and will provide those that sign up an automated phone call at a specified time each day to check in with that person. The person will be called and prompted to press a button, if the person fails to answer, the call will happen twice more, and if they all go unanswered an emergency contact is called. Those interested in signing up can call 330-287-5709, or go online to the sheriff’s office website.
