Council members in Wooster have rejected the Wayne County Fair Board’s request to receive a share of the city’s economic development funds. The board had asked the city for roughly $100,000 in bed tax money to help with the cost of operating its brand new event center. Council voted 6-1 against the fair board’s request at its meeting on Monday night. The majority of Wooster’s bed tax money goes directly into the city’s general fund, while the remainder gets split up between Main Street Wooster, the Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce and the Wayne County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
