Fire causes damage at Gerber Poultry

A fire caused damage to Gerber Poultry on Saturday, but thanks to the sprinkler system the damage was limited. Kidron Volunteer Fire responded to the building on Saturday shortly after 11 p.m. when the fire alarm was triggered in the boiler room. The sprinkler system kept the fire under control, and what fire remained was quickly put out with extinguishers. No injuries were reported as no one was in the building at the time. Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
