Fire destroys barn at local farm

One barn was destroyed in a fire Friday afternoon in Chester Township. The fire destroyed a barn at the Shaggy Apple Farm on Smithville Western Road. No one was in the barn at the time, nor was there any livestock in the barn at the time of the fire. Six firefighters were taken to the hospital for heat related symptoms while battling the blaze. No estimate on the cost of the damage has been assessed. First crews were on the scene around 12:15 p.m.
