Former Wooster woman killed in Florida by drunk driver

A former Wooster woman was killed over the weekend in Florida when her boyfriend hit her with his car while driving drunk.  40-year old Deborah Jo Hershberger and 40-year old Charles Polen, who also used to live in Wayne County, were at a bar together on Saturday night when they got into an argument.  Hershberger then left the bar on foot and Polen got into his car to go look for her.  Police say Polen struck and killed Hersherberger less than a quarter of a mile from the bar.  He later told deputies that he initially thought he had just hit an animal.  Polen, whose previous convictions include domestic violence and three DUIs, admitted to drinking between 8 and 10 beers at the bar that night.
