Wayne County looking to secure grant funding to mitigate flood damage and anticipate flood issues. The Wayne County Commissioners approved two grant applications that will help in those respects following the flooding that hit the area in July. Wayne County EMA and Wayne Count Soil and Water Conservation Districts are both seeking funds for their respective projects. The SWCD is putting together the Wayne County High Water Warning System, which would monitor the Killbuck, Apple and Sugar Creeks. Wayne County EMA along with Apple Creek Township, Wooster and Wooster Township identified 18 parcels of land that would begin to be monitored to prevent or reduce future disaster damage.
