The Northwestern Local School District has given contract extensions to its superintendent and associate superintendent. School board members this week approved a four-year extension for Superintendent Jeff Layton, whose new deal runs through July of 2025, and a three-year extension for Associate Superintendent Julie McCumber, whose extension runs through July of 2024. The moves reportedly angered some of Northwestern’s staff and union members because their contract expired last summer and they’ve yet to get a new deal from the district.
