Rittman Police: Man tries to break into stepdad’s home

Rittman Police say that a homeowner apparently shot at his own 28-year-old estranged stepson during a reported break-in. The incident took place Wednesday morning just before 9:00 am in the 300 block of Hilty Avenue. The homeowner says that he was asleep just prior to the shooting, and that the stepson, who is homeless, had tried to break into the home before. The alleged suspect reportedly ran off, as investigators were able to find a bullet on the floor of the attached garage.
