A West Salem man was killed in a motorcycle crash Friday evening, according to the Ashland Post of the State Highway Patrol. The accident occurred just before 8:00 PM on Township Road 350, east of Township Road 791, in Ashland County’s Troy Township. 60-year-old Robert Sturgill Jr. was reportedly riding his motorcycle eastbound on Township Road 350, when authorities say that Sturgill failed to negotiate a curve and went off the road to the left, then struck a utility pole. The State Highway Patrol says that a helmet was located at the scene, but it is unknown at this time if it was being worn at the time of the crash.
